iberian pig

Sunday i had one of the most pleasurable and enjoyable eating experiences of my life. i honestly can't think of a better setting or situation where you get to talk with friends, enjoy wonderful food, and people watch in the cool of the fall evening. i had never eaten at the Iberian Pig before and although it is only minutes from my mother's job in downtown Decatur i was never intrigued to try it. it might have something to do with the name, well, it had everything to do with the name. regardless, that was the spot that was chosen for our fellowship through food. this restaurant serves tapas style dishes and entrees that contains some of the best meat and cheeses my taste buds have ever got the opportunity to enjoy. i marveled at how tender the lamb ribs were and how i barely had to chew for the meat to be swallowed. i savored every bite i took and even was a bit adventurous and tried foods i normally wouldn't, like eggplant fries. i recommend everyone eat here even if you don't have an affinity for upscale Spanish cuisine; you will end up loving it. i rode home intoxicated by food and friends--i had quite the evening.

krystals at 3am

krystals is probably one of the most unappealing fast food places. i have never been jumping to go buy and consume mini hamburgers that are so cheap you can buy ten for like five bucks. however, whenever i have been drinking, i always crave krystals in the wee hours of the morning. i usually either get two chicks plain, or chili cheese fries. even in my state of inebriation i still think about  my quality of health and the two little chicken sandwiches are usually what wins for best purchase of the night. i have never eaten krystals while sober...ever. maybe one day i will try it, but for now, i enjoy krystals only on nights that leave me dizzy and hungry for something, anything that is open at 3 in the morning.

eating alone.

a concept foreign to many people, most of which aren't single. i think in order to eat alone you have to be slightly unaware of yourself and more aware of other people. for instance, one time last year when was in london i ate alone at a thai restaurant. i had no intentions of eating alone, but when i grew hungry and nobody else wanted to eat i took the initiative to go buy myself a plate of noodles and chicken and sit there and enjoy it whether i had company or not. your food doesn't get cold because you have to stop eating in order to respond, nor do you have to share and/or taste something grotesque your friend or date is eating. also, you can savor every flavor and sit there as long as you want people watching and looking slightly insignificant. it's sometimes nice to feel that way, especially when you have good food in front of you.
